DJ Short Seeds

Azure Haze:

Sativa Dominant (80/20)

Lineage: F4 Blueberry X Super Silver Haze

Flowering Time: 65 to 70 days

Yield: Average to high

Azure Haze has been described as DJ Short’s own spin on Blue Dream genetics. Since Blue Dream is a rare, clone-only variety, Super Silver Haze was crossed with his Blueberry male to birth the elusive Azure Haze. Little cultivation information regarding this strain is currently available, but several medicinal marijuana forums have stated that Azure’s plant structure grows more in a sativa fashion, but with tightly condensed, indica-like buds. It is also suggested that phosphorus and potassium levels are monitored carefully near the last weeks before flushing. Azure Haze has an aroma that beautifully blends Haze’s earthy scents of fresh vegetation, with creamy berry overtones inherited from the Blueberry father. Along the same lines, a floral-fruit taste is experienced when smoked, followed by exceptional pain relief and body relaxation effects, as well as appetite stimulation, spasticity control, and euphoric mood management.

Blueberry:

Indica Dominant (60/40)

Lineage: Highland Thai X Purple Thai X Afghani Indica (This genetic blend is the basis for many DJ Short strains.)

Flowering Time: 50 to 60 days

Yield: Heavy

DJ Short’s Blueberry has placed first and second in a number of miniature Cannabis Culture competitions and is obviously named for its distinctive flavor and smell. However, this full and wide growing plant exhibits darkened leaves and stems with cool blue hues in her flowers that fade to pale lavender as they cure. Growing outdoors with organic fertilizers is stated by The Big Book of Buds Vol. 1 as the most optimal method of cultivation, as this allows for the retainment of the strain’s nuance of flavors, as well as enhances quality. Blueberry’s aroma and flavor are both exceptionally fruity, with its namesake taste as the most predominant. Her smoke produces a notably pleasant experience of euphoria with long lasting effects.

Cocoa Kush:

Indica Dominant (60/40)

Lineage: Blueberry Sativa X Original Blueberry

Flowering Time: 55 to 60 days

Yield: Average

Cocoa Kush is described to be aesthetically and experientially reminiscent of her grandma Chocolate Thai, with structural characteristics blending both kush and Thai influences. Cocoa grows as a symmetric and uniform plant–not quite as thick as typical indica growth, but with compact nodes, elongated lavender colas, and swollen purple calyxes similar to a vine of ripe grapes. This plant’s complex array of flavors encompasses a tangy licorice taste with nutty chocolate undertones and a zesty edge, offering an unsually delicious smoke that is followed by a dreamily mellow, headstash haze.

Flo:

Sativa Dominant (60/40)

Lineage: Highland Thai X Purple Thai X Afghani Indica

Flowering Time: 55 to 60 days

Yield: Heavy, multiple harvests

The Big Book of Buds suggests that this DJ Short strain is named for her unique ability to continually produce a flow of buds through multiple harvests. Her flowers are large, condensed, and spear-like composed of purple-striped calyxes. She matures rapidly and heavily, growing tall and stretching her branches out wide. Flo’s smell is subtle and delicate, with a floral blueberry flavor that echoes in her perfume, as well. Her sativa-dominance produces an energetic and motivating effect, with focused clarity and attentiveness. In addition, Flo was rated #1 at the 1996 Cannabis Cup.

Whitaker Blues:

Indica Dominant (80/20)

Lineage: Quimby (Indica) X Blueberry

Flowering Time: 55 to 62 days

Yield: Average

Whitacker Blues was spawned from West Coast genetics by DJ Short’s son JD, creating a uniquely delicious medicinal strain with a prominent indica background. Her growth is stout in stature, producing thick leaves and dense, plump buds soaked in glassy resin. This strain is reported to perform exceptionally well in both hydro and soil gardens and demonstrates strong resilience to many minor environment fluctuations. Whitaker Blues emits an enchanting perfume ranging from a pungent berry candy to citrus-honied musk. Flavor-wise, these buds blanket the palate with what The Big Book of Buds describes as “a distinct velvety grape flavor and a mild suggestion of vanilla”.
